Women in Finance Study Tour - London

Women in Finance Study Tour - London

Achieving broader diversity among its board directors and top management teams is a means to ensure that the company is better prepared for rapid changes in markets, technology, economy and regulatory frameworks.

As the pace to improve the gender balance on boards and in top management teams is depressingly slow, we are determined to help speed the process. By exchanging experience, knowledge and ideas across borders, we believe that we can move faster.

So, for the 4th time, we are inviting a group of female leaders from the Norwegian financial industry, to visit financial institutions in London and to meet with fellow leaders. The purpose of the tour is to gather insight on activities and actions that actually works.

The agenda for the study tour is in the forming, based on feedback from previous years’ attendees and hosting companies. It is already confirmed that we will visit the Financial Times, Norges Bank Investment Management, DNB and Rothschild &CO.

These are some of the topics we plan to address, focussing on similarities and differences between the British and the Norwegian financial industry, as well as political/regulatory, cultural and systemic challenges and opportunities:

From Equality to Competitiveness

o   Can gender balance become a strategic advantage in global finance?

The Leadership Pipeline Crisis

o   Why are women falling off the career ladder in the financial sector?

The Availability Trap

o   Are Front-Office Careers Structurally Incompatible with Gender Balance?”

The Meritocracy Myth

o   Do we really have merit-based leadership selection?

Capital Markets and Gender Balance

o   Will investors start pricing leadership diversity?

I addition to sharing insight and knowledge around gender balance in the financial industry, attendees at previous study tours also appreciate discussions related to geopolitics and macroeconomy.
